HERDING THE DISPOSSESSED - A SAMPLE GUIDE TO MODELING FLAGELLANTS title image.
Artwork of flagellants in battle.
Sure in their mad convictions that the end is nigh, Flagellants hurl themselves upon the enemy without any hesitation. Such hopeless individuals are driven to feats of incredible strength and endurance of pain as they seek death without fear. This lunacy is captured nicely on the Flagellant sprue. With such a plethora of arms, heads, chains, bells, banners, and trinkets, each model can truly be made unique. As a bonus, the sprue contains a myriad of odds and ends that any hobbyist can find uses for while constructing their Empire army. To display just how versatile this sprue is, we've assembled 20 Flagellants from the sprue to get your fanatical mindset going.

These Flagellants were built with only a few minor hand repositions. The highlight model here has to be the loon in the yoke. As you can see, a pair of ball and chain bits glued to either side of the yoke transforms the crazed Flagellant into a dervish of doom!

This next group of five Flagellants was built with the simple goal of using every bell found on the sprue. One bell replaced the tip of a flail to create a large, two-handed bell. Along with the bell theme, the idea was to arm them with nothing but maces and torches.

This third rabble of Flagellants features an abundance of the book bitz from the sprue. Some of the flail ends have even been replaced with heavy tomes, changing the once-benign reading material into deadly weapons!

The final five Flagellants have had small bits from the Empire State Troops added here and there for extra flair. Examples include a shield on the one man's back banner and the pair of long sword arms holding a flail instead of a sword. Also, an additional "flame head" was made by snipping a torch flame bit and adding it to the top of the "caged" Flagellant head.

The end result is a block of miniatures that really look like a frothing mass of crazies!
