Week 4 Report
s the war for the Nemesis Crown enters a new phase, the Dwarfs of Thorgrim Ironfist are in the ascendant, winning many great victories and perhaps even closing in on the location of the Crown itself. But others win honours, too, notably the Bretonnians and the Wood Elves, whose own objectives are furthered with every battle they win.
Other armies find themselves facing defeat if they cannot redouble their efforts or brook new alliances. The Men of the Empire find themselves in debt to the Bretonnians, without whose aid many regions would have slipped into the hands of the forces of darkness, who would then have had free reign to scour the woodlands for the lost Crown.
Meanwhile, others still languish on the brink of disaster. The Beasts of Chaos and the Orcs & Goblins have suffered many terrible defeats. Yet, even as they lick their wounds, fell minds hatch terrible plans of bloodshed and conquest, and once more the forests shall burn and the rivers run red with the blood of those who would possess the Nemesis Crown.Hordes of Chaos
Though blood-maddened bands of Chaos Marauders continue to plague the river ways of the region, it is only in the Taalford Lowlands where the servants of the Ruinous Powers have inflicted any great defeats upon their foes. In many other areas, in particular the Draken Downs, the warbands have been defeated soundly, often forced to retreat to their raiding vessels or flee to the forests.
The leaders of these warbands have, since the beginning of the war, carried out the plans of the council of the seers and sorcerers who set them upon the path to the Great Forest . Now, these same Warleaders grow weary with such flawed wisdom, and a number have turned upon their advisers, committing the ultimate blasphemy of taking the life of one blessed in the eyes of the Chaos Gods.
Some Warleaders now suspect the motives of those whose advice they followed. Now, the shamans cringe under the gaze of their masters, lest the next defeat bring down punishment and retribution.
Yet, despite the defeats, the Warleaders have offered up many souls to their vile gods, the Legion of Oblivion and Vrakk Darktonue of the Servants of the Flame putting Nadjagard to the torch in the name of the mysterious Cursemaster. It remains to be seen if such isolated victories can be turned into larger-scale success, and whether the Warleaders will achieve this in spite of, or because of, the counsel of their seers.
