Week 4 Report
s the war for the Nemesis Crown enters a new phase, the Dwarfs of Thorgrim Ironfist are in the ascendant, winning many great victories and perhaps even closing in on the location of the Crown itself. But others win honours, too, notably the Bretonnians and the Wood Elves, whose own objectives are furthered with every battle they win.
Other armies find themselves facing defeat if they cannot redouble their efforts or brook new alliances. The Men of the Empire find themselves in debt to the Bretonnians, without whose aid many regions would have slipped into the hands of the forces of darkness, who would then have had free reign to scour the woodlands for the lost Crown.
Meanwhile, others still languish on the brink of disaster. The Beasts of Chaos and the Orcs & Goblins have suffered many terrible defeats. Yet, even as they lick their wounds, fell minds hatch terrible plans of bloodshed and conquest, and once more the forests shall burn and the rivers run red with the blood of those who would possess the Nemesis Crown. The Empire
The court of the Empire has been riven with controversy over recent days. Luthor Huss, fiery outcast Warrior Priest of the Sigmarite Church , has openly challenged the council, confronted Kurt Helborg, and even implied criticism of the Emperor himself. It is utter folly, Huss fumed to the council, to seek to capture and utilise the Nemesis Crown. The Warrior Priest, who had survived several attempts on his life by unseen assassins over recent days, rejected the notion that the Crown was a holy relic of the Age of Sigmar, and invited Karl Franz to retire with him to the forest, there to spend four days and nights in prayer and meditation, that the truth may be revealed by the grace of Sigmar.
At this suggestion, Kurt Helborg and others of the court flew into a rage, and the council descended into a riotous quarrel. Amidst the clamour, Karl Franz and his closest bodyguards left, Luthor Huss in their midst. The small party mounted their steeds, and set off into the woods. It was almost an hour before the court quietened and the advisors realised that the Emperor had accepted Huss's offer. Kurt Helborg, the Emperor's Champion, stormed from the pavilion in deathly silence, his defeat writ large across his stony face. Now, the court can only await their Emperor's return…
Elsewhere in the region, the Knightly Orders continue to control the roadways, constricting the movements of enemy armies. In this, one Hans Heinrich Bimmler has been honoured for his efforts in the service of the Emperor. There is, however, one cause for concern. Empire Road Wardens have reported disagreements and tense altercations with Dwarf Rangers attempting to establish a permanent presence along the Old Dwarf Road . To date, these confrontations have not resulted in battle, yet the situation may escalate if Thorgrim's underlings give the impression of seeking to establish anything other than a temporary presence. The Empire's borders have remained sacrosanct for millennia, and none within the Emperor's court would accept otherwise.
