Week 2 Report

The war for the Nemesis Crown escalates into a full-blown battle for domination of the Great Forest , with a myriad of bitter enemies fighting one another beneath the dark eaves. Where previously small warbands scouted the woodlands, now larger forces converge, their goal to expel all others so that they, and they alone, may gain possession of the Nemesis Crown.

The fighting has been greatest to the east, the Talabec Borders and the Barren Hills erupting in war as Greenskin tribes migrate westwards in an effort to carry out Grimgor's orders. Many of these tribes have been halted by the stalwart Dwarfs that guard the Old Dwarf Road , but many more have bypassed Thorgrim's fortifications and even now flock to the Ironhide's banner.

In the Draken Downs, the Dwarfs have established yet more fortifications, against which a tide of beasts from the dark woods has broken. The stoic warriors have held against all attacks, taking a fearsome toll on the Beastmen.

In the Drakwald Forest events are far harder to read, with all manner of grim and far-fetched tales coming out of that region. Some speak of Skaven bands emerging from the tree line to slaughter entire columns of troops, others tell of ghostly, bone clad vessels passing along the River Delb by night. All who attempt to investigate have disappeared silently in the darkness.

The Reik's Marches are dominated by the Wood Elves of Athel Lauren, who now claim the deep woods as their own. Few now dare to travel under anything other than clear sky, for fear of Wood Elf Way Watchers leaping from the boughs of the twisted trees to slaughter any who oppose them.

In the Howling Heights , many great victories have been won thanks to the knights of Bretonnia, who, cooperating with High Elf bands, have saved the armies of the Empire in the region from certain defeat at the hands of the shambling hordes of the Vampire Counts.

In the Rauberthal, Wood Elf Kindreds passing from the Reik's Marches have established dominance of the region's forest, launching vengeful attacks against the Beastmen lurking in the dark, and even driving them out into the hills where the children of Morghur have been ridden down by glittering hosts of High Elven and Bretonnian cavalry.

To the south, in the Great Confluence, the Dwarfs dominate, though they have yet to establish the formidable fortifications they have elsewhere. The Dwarfs have fought a number of pitched battles against the Beastmen, but have yet to establish a presence in the woods proper.

In the Talabec Borders the Wood Elves have found themselves under attack by small, roving bands of their dark kin, the Druchii. It appears these bands have infiltrated by night along the dark forests, and a series of running battles has been fought between Shades and Way Watchers, the hatred and bitterness of old rekindled once more.

In the Barren Hills, more retinues of Bretonnian knights have leant their aid to the forces of light, and it is fortunate indeed that they have, for otherwise roaming bands of Chaos Marauders would have exacted a bloody toll on the Empire's hard pressed militias.

Those marauders attacking to the south in the Taalford Lowlands have met with success over recent days, with a series of massacres inflicted against High Elf bands dispatched to reinforce the region. Even as the Elves of Ulthuan dispatch more forces, the lowlands echo to the blasphemous celebrations of the victorious servants of Chaos.

Dwarfs

The Great Forest echoes to the stirring sound of Dwarven warriors chanting their dour war songs as they hew greenskin flesh. Thorgrim Grudgebearer has led his warriors against any and all who would stand before his mission to recover the Nemesis Crown, and although the Crown itself has not been found, Thorgrim's armies now dominate vast swathes of the land.

Principle among Thorgrim's champions is the renowned Joseph Bugman, who has fought for days without rest in the grim, windswept hills around the Giant's Tump. It is said that a constant supply of Joseph's finest brew keeps his warriors fighting where lesser mortals would fail for want of sleep. It can only be hoped that the Dwarfs' baggage train remains unmolested.

Joseph Bugman's victories at the Giant's Tump were in part made possible thanks to the efforts of one Borik Stonehammer, whose heroic stand at the Bitter Moon Inn stemmed enemy reinforcements heading to face the Master Brewer. When praised after the battle, Borik stated that he was not fighting for Bugman's benefit (Joseph Bugman can look after himself) – he just could not bear to see ale lost, even weakling manmade brew.

With the Dwarfs dominating the eastern region of the Great Forest , Thorgrim has ordered more fortifications built along the Old Dwarf Road . The Empire's road wardens have to date accepted the necessity of establishing such positions, but have warned Thorgrim not to get too well established…

What Does That Mean? The following color codes are meant to provide you with a barometer of how well your faction is progressing towards its stated goal for the Nemesis Crown. These color codes are here to give you a sense of your progress to date.

Image of a green button. Green. Your faction is doing well, and if things continue, you are bound to secure your objectives while others stumble and clash in the depths of the forest.
Image of a yellow button. Yellow. The fight is far from over, and the outcome isn't certain, though victory is definitely within your grasp. To assure you achieve your faction's goal, you'll need to put forth greater effort.
Image of a red button. Red. Things are not looking well at all, and fate seems to have forsaken you. Despite your best efforts, nothing seems to be going according to plan. Victory may still be possible, as the winds of war are often fickle. In order to succeed, you'll need to re-double your efforts!

The Big Picture. It is important to remember that for this campaign, there will be no single winner. Each faction is working towards its goal, and battles will determine whether or not they are able to achieve it.
